1. Why is pneumatic system maintenance important?
The pneumatic system is the "heart" and "muscle" of automated screen printing machines and pad printing machines - it drives all core movements such as the lifting and lowering of the slide, the dipping of the rubber head, the reciprocating of the scraper, and the movement of the workbench. Once there is a problem with the air circuit system, the entire equipment will either "paralyze and stop moving", or "move abnormally and lose accuracy".
However, in actual production, the pneumatic system is the most neglected maintenance blind area. Many factories only focus on mechanical components and electrical faults, but ignore the invisible "gas". They wait until the equipment slows down, the cylinder crawls, and the solenoid valve becomes stuck before troubleshooting, often causing unnecessary downtime losses.
In fact, as long as daily pneumatic maintenance is done, more than 80% of gas circuit failures can be prevented. The following is a detailed explanation of the correct maintenance methods of pneumatic systems from five dimensions.
2. Core Point 1: Quality Management of Compressed Air
Compressed air is the "blood" of the pneumatic system. If the blood is not clean, problems will occur in all organs of the body. The air naturally contains moisture, dust and trace amounts of oil mist. If it is sent directly to the equipment without treatment, it will cause:
Moisture corrodes the inner wall of the cylinder and the solenoid valve core, causing rust and sticking;
Dust particles wear seals and piston rings and accelerate leakage;
Oil mist mixes with dust to form sludge, which clogs the throttle valve and muffler.
Correct approach: Install a precision filter (filtration precision not less than 5 μm) at the air source inlet, and configure a refrigerated dryer to reduce the dew point temperature of the compressed air to 2-5°C to ensure that dry and clean gas is fed into the equipment. If it is only used intermittently, an oil-water separator should be installed at least at the end of the main pipeline.
3. Core Point 2: Drain the accumulated water in the water filter cup every day
This is the simplest, most effective, but most easily overlooked step.
After the compressed air is cooled, moisture will condense and accumulate in the air tank and filter cup. If not discharged in time, the accumulated water will be drawn into the downstream pipeline by the air flow and directly impact the solenoid valve and cylinder.
Correct approach:
Before starting the machine every day, open the drain valve at the bottom of the gas tank to drain out the water in the tank;
After finishing work every day, press the drain button at the bottom of the water filter cup in the three-point combination (pressure regulator + filter + lubricator) to completely drain the water in the cup;
If the humidity in the workshop is high (such as the rainy season in the south), it is recommended to discharge it every 4 hours.
Warning: If you find white water mist spraying out of the gas line or hear "water sound" when the cylinder is operating, it means that the water accumulation in the pipeline is quite serious, and you should stop the machine immediately for investigation.
4. Core Point 3: Reasonable Setting and Monitoring of Air Pressure
The standard working pressure of screen printing machines and pad printing machines is usually 4-7kg/cm² (0.4-0.7MPa). The adjustment method is as follows:
Open the main air source valve and pull up the pressure regulator knob (unlocked state);
Turn clockwise to increase the pressure, turn counterclockwise to decrease the pressure, and observe the pressure gauge to reach the target value (it is recommended to set it in the middle range of 5-6kg/cm²);
Press the knob to lock it to prevent accidentally changing the setting value;
Check the barometer reading once a week to confirm that the air pressure is stable.
The maintenance of the pneumatic system is essentially to manage the quality of the "gas", adjust the size of the "pressure", provide the dosage of "oil", and check the sealing of the "road". These four tasks may seem simple, but they directly determine the movement accuracy, operational stability and equipment life of the screen printing machine and pad printing machine. Spending 5 minutes doing routine maintenance is better than spending 5 hours troubleshooting - this is a principle that every equipment operator and manager should keep in mind.
