Regarding the accuracy and standardization issues of silk screen printing in the field of printed electronics, the current core situation can be summarized as follows: there has been a clear breakthrough in accuracy, and laboratories and high-end production lines have reached 50μm or even finer levels; however, the standardization process has seriously lagged behind, becoming the core bottleneck restricting its move from the laboratory to large-scale, high-yield production.
Current Accuracy: The 50μm barrier has been broken, but the consistency of mass production is questionable. From the perspective of technical capabilities, screen printing has made substantial progress in the resolution of printed electronics.
Professor Zhong Yunfei of Hunan University of Technology pointed out at an industry exchange meeting in September 2026 that the screen printing resolution has exceeded 50 μm. Academic research has also confirmed this trend: some studies have used high-performance stainless steel mesh and commercial conductive ink to achieve a minimum conductive functional pattern printing resolution of 40 μm; other literature mentioned that thin lines below 50 μm are "about to be adopted in mass production."
However, accuracy indicators themselves are not equivalent to mass production capabilities. Analysis by industry media SPGPrints pointed out that when evaluating screens, it is not enough to just look at the nominal resolution. The key lies in whether this performance can be consistent across the entire printing width, long runs, and between different batches. This is the crux of the current accuracy problem - being able to print 40μm lines in the laboratory does not mean that every piece on the production line can print 40μm stably and meet the electrical conductivity standards.
